The Flow State Healing Philosophy:
Earth connected, Body centered,
& Mindfulness based
Earth Connected
We are all connected by belonging to this Earth
No matter what faith or path you walk I firmly believe every person benefits from feeling connected to something larger than themselves and to the earth. Nature's cycles are a reflection of cycles within ourselves and so my methods and practices are rooted in a connection and understanding of this connection to the earth.
Body Centered
Your willingness to observe your body is one of the most powerful decisions you can make.
Our bodies are amazing things. They store emotions, memories, beliefs, and experiences within them, sometimes manifesting as pain, tension, or discomfort. Through the power of healing touch I help you becomes more aware of what your body is telling you so that you can learn to release things that no longer serve you.
I use many techniques, including Thai massage, neuromuscular deep tissue, craniosacral therapy, energy work, and the breath to help you hear the messages your body is telling you and allow it to heal and bring itself back into balance.
Mindfullness Based
Awareness is the first step towards change.
Guided meditation, breath awareness, and body awareness all go hand in hand. Just 15 minutes of meditation a day has been shown to change our brain and body chemistry. Simple belly breathing can help switch our nervous system from sympathetic, fight or flight mode to parasympathetic, rest and repair mode. Cultivating awareness is the foundation of all that I do. During our sessions I will often ask you to bring your attention to your breath and the sensations you are feeling in your body. The breath is the bridge between the conscious and the unconscious, helping us let your body know it is safe to let go and allow the healing to take place.
Meet Miwa
(She/her/hers) Licensed Massage Therapist, SC License# 11775, Certified Thai Massage practitioner, Herbalist, & Craniosacral therapist.
I love what I do and feel incredibly grateful to have finally landed in a profession that feels like it fulfills and supports me as much as it does my clients.
I come from two generations of healers, bodyworkers and psychotherapists, and so really it should not have come as a surprise to me that I landed in the healing arts, and yet I resisted the call for many years. But when I finally began to embrace the call my path began to blossom.
I see the mind, body and spirit as all connected, with there being many paths towards healing and wholeness, but I have found that my gift is to work primarily through the physical, using this as my doorway and entry point to effect change on all levels.
I LOVE using my hands, and I believe the body does not lie. Our bodies are our instrument, uniquely tuned and weathered by all that is you; your life experiences, memories, beliefs, etc. While the mind can play all kinds of tricks on us the body holds and stores the truth, in the form of postural patterns that reflect our beliefs about ourselves, pain and scars that tell the stories of how we got to where we are today, and sensations that are constantly trying to communicate with us if we can just take a moment to listen.
Massage and bodywork is generally my gateway in, but then I find the journey can go as deep as you want it to go.
