Mayu — a tiny house retreat

Dear community and friends,

I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me. Being a mother definitely has a way of shifting priorities! But I continue to be so very grateful for work that I love and clients that I love that continue to return and tell their friends about me. Especially in this season of my life where time feels so precious and scarce, being able to not have to do too much more than just show up fully present during sessions for my clients is truly a gift. So thank you for allowing me to lean into having a business that I can trust to mostly run itself — even when you don’t hear from me for over a year in a newsletter.

So, what brings me to the computer today? Well, I have quietly managed to do some things over the last year or so, some of which I’ve implemented without fanfare, but enough little changes have been made that I decided it was time to get my butt in front of the computer and send out a newsletter. Here’s what you’ll find below:

  • A simpler experience — no more tips
  • A new website — I left Wix and coded my own
  • A new newsletter platform (and a quick note about your subscription)
  • A new training: SomatoEmotional Release
  • Introducing Mayu — a new mini retreat space available for hourly & overnight rentals

A simpler experience — no more tips

I’ve gotten rid of tips. I still have my sliding scale and remain committed to keeping it, and I hope eliminating tips further simplifies your experience. If you’d like to give me a little extra love, one way you can do that is by selecting the Pay It Forward rate, which helps those who need to use the Community Supported Rate — with the goal being that my average is at or slightly above the Standard Rate.

A new home online

I’ve left Wix and, with the help of AI, coded my own website! Check it out here: www.miwarobbins.com

A new newsletter platform

I’m playing with a new newsletter platform, which meant migrating all my email contacts. If you unsubscribed at some point or no longer wish to receive these (very infrequent) newsletters, I apologize if you were added back in error during the migration. Feel free to unsubscribe again at the bottom of this email.

New training: SomatoEmotional Release

I took a new and exciting upper-level craniosacral course called SomatoEmotional Release! Here are some of the ways your experience during sessions may shift as I integrate what I’ve learned.

I now have the tools to better introduce dialogue and imagery during your craniosacral sessions, as feels appropriate. This dialogue is informed by what I feel in your body, and is, for the most part, in the form of simple questions to guide you in your own journey of self-exploration and self-realization.

Perhaps you have already experienced this on the table with me, where you feel you are on the edge of something. On the edge of a breakthrough or an emotional release. In the past, when I have felt this precipice, I have generally just waited patiently in the stillness. The SomatoEmotional Release course gave me a beautiful framework to now introduce some simple questions and dialogue to perhaps help you more fully take that dive, if you are ready, to the other side.

The art of it is knowing when silence is more powerful, and when dialogue would serve better. I know I won’t always get it right, but I have already witnessed some beautiful work being done with this new set of skills.

Introducing Mayu

The Cocoon of Transformation

Those of you who have been on this journey with me long enough will remember (or will have heard about) my tiny house on wheels that I designed and built when I was in my twenties. Her name is Mayu, which means cocoon in Japanese. Well, last summer we moved her from Ithaca, NY to our backyard here in Greenville, SC! Since she arrived we have done some upgrades, mostly to the bathroom, and now I feel ready and excited to share her with the world again and see what this new chapter has in store for her.

She has always been an alive being to me, and I joke that she was perhaps my first child. I feel she is still in the process of revealing how she wants to serve in this next chapter, but reading through her guest book, which I started when we first left Ithaca, I am reminded of how the space touches people. The entries are beautiful, and I feel clear that the medicine of the space should be shared somehow. This community feels like the right place to begin that sharing.

So I want to make her available as a mini retreat space — available to rent by the hour or for an overnight stay. Whether you need a soft place to land before or after your bodywork session, a few hours of stillness in the middle of a full week, or a mini retreat all your own, Mayu is ready to hold you and be your own little cocoon of transformation.

Pause.   Breathe.   Reset.

Mayu’s cozy sleeping loft

I’ve set an hourly price ($30/hour, with no minimum), and overnight rental prices are negotiable depending on length of stay, intention, and need. Similarly to how I have sliding-scale pricing for my bodywork services, I want Mayu to feel accessible to those who could benefit from her medicine.

Take a Look at Mayu

With warmth and care,

Miwa

P.S. If you’ve benefited from my work and would like to help others find me, Google reviews are one of the best ways I’ve found as a small business owner to stay visible in search engines. If you have a moment, please consider writing one here.
